Beverley Herrero-Hart: Distorting Bible’s message won’t get you into heaven
Re “God has room for ‘whoever’” (Letters, Aug. 25): It’s strange how people can interpret Bible verses to suit how they live and act. Being straight is not a per-requisite for being a Christian; But obeying God’s laws and confessing what you do wrong are. Honoring God above all worldly things is what makes anyone a child of God.
Whoever denies him, openly or in your heart, Jesus will deny you when we stand before God.
We are not perfect, but God loves us. In our imperfection, God has given us the Bible.
You are fooling yourself by living a lifestyle contrary to what God commands.
Jesus says “whoever,” repeatedly, because he welcomes all of God’s children who live by the laws of God. No one can rearrange the meaning of what Jesus says in the Bible to make themselves feel better about whatever they’re doing.
Trying to use Bible verses to prove what they do is right doesn’t make them right.
Yes, God does still love you, but he will not let “whoever” into heaven if “whoever” doesn’t follow what the Bible truly means.
