Rick Cornejo: Schools staff needs more help

Schools staff needs more help

The Modesto City School District administration and board members continue to amaze me. While some of district’s clerical employees struggle to keep up with their work it seems that there is no money for hiring more clerical staff. For example, the high school attendance offices: clerical staff are trying to keep up with daily absent and truant students, but fall woefully behind due to more work than staff can address. Our present administration fails to understand school attendance office is the district’s bread and butter. Interestingly, the administration and board can find money to give the public information officer a huge raise. How about hiring more clerical help? Perhaps the public information officer should spend a couple of days as an attendance clerk and report to the public how unappreciated these employees are.
