Ken Garst: Cyclist already pay their own way
Cyclist already pay their own way
Re “Cyclists should pay their own way on roads” (Letters, Oct. 2): Actually cyclists do pay their own way. In addition to paying state and federal taxes, much of which go into road building and maintenance, they do not, while bicycling, pollute the air and destroy the environment as you vehicle drivers do whenever you turn on your automobile. Nor do they threaten life and limb at every turn. Should we also charge workers a fee to use sidewalks? How about skaters and runners and trycyclists? Always think it through before you submit your thoughts.
