David Donovan: More government waste on the Solyndra case

Last week the U.S. Department of Energy released the results of its joint investigation with the FBI of the failed Solyndra Solar Company of Fremont. What a disappointment.

In spite of concluding that executives at Solyndra lied about the health of the company and its pending sales in order to receive a $500 million loan, our government investigators decided not to charge the fraudsters with a crime or to sue them for recovery of at least part of the taxpayers’ losses. How much of our taxes were used to fund this worthless “investigation”?

The multi-year “investigation” accomplished one thing: it allowed government officials to avoid answering questions about Solyndra until it became old news and unworthy of comment.

In which decade will we citizens be informed of the results of the investigation of IRS abuses?
