George A. Kiehn: Kristof needs to get some facts, then his opinion might have merit

Re “Two more lives taken by guns” (Opinions, Aug. 28): Nicholas Kristof should do a little work and be an investigative reporter instead of just writing with the herd that we need more gun laws or complain about the deaths caused by guns. Of the 33,000 Americans killed by guns, how many were suicides? How many were killed by unbalanced people like Bryce Williams? How many were Islamic-terror related? How many were gang related? How many were drug related? How many were black on black crime? How many were black on white crime? How many were white on black crime? And don’t just say those statistics are not available, but dig in and get some real good estimates and get policies in place to develop the numbers for the future. With the information available, analyze what needs to be done within each category to reduce deaths. Maybe then his articles would be worth reading.
