Robert Anderson: Don’t change College’s figure with ‘road diet’
Why in the world are we spending needless sums of money to put College Avenue on a “Road Diet Plan?” College Avenue has been four lanes for at least the past 50 years, and I don’t recall any problems. Traffic has backed up at Roosevelt Junior High, and it also backs up at MJC. I’m wondering if our planners and council have traveled on College when commute traffic takes place? If the change goes through, then we will all be “idling” and making the air dirty because we are on a two-lane road and traffic cannot move. What an absolute waste of money and broken promises. The change was to be completed prior to the new school year. It has not happened yet.
As for bicyclists, I have seen very few. They are using the Virginia Corridor, for their convenience and safety.
I will be having a very difficult time voting for incumbents; I don’t feel they have a true feel for what real priorities are. I just cannot stop shaking my head in bewilderment.
