Richard Weiglein: City hires too many consultants

Re “Water system: City’s fire hydrants will gush during tests” (Page A3, Aug. 19): I could not believe what was in the paper; the city water department has hired another consultant. Can’t they do anything themselves? Why do we have these high-paid employees if they have to hire outside consultants every time they need to make a decision? I think we should fire the whole bunch and just keep consultants on standby. Then, every time the city has to make some changes, the consultants would be there waiting. And what about all the water they are wasting testing fire hydrants? I thought we are in a drought?
