Diane Kroeze: D’Souza clearly hasn’t learned his lesson

Re “Conservative author D’Souza lures crowd to local fundraiser” (Page A4, Aug. 3): After eight months of spending his nights at a half-way house managed by a federal prison for laundering campaign money in excess of legal limits, how could anyone blame President Obama’s anger for the harshness of his sentence? That is a real stretch of the imagination to say his sentence was related to Obama’s anger. Does anyone with a brain think the president has time for that kind of nonsense?

The Republicans audience for Dinesh D’Souza thought it very funny that he was probably intending to keep on doing whatever he had been doing no matter how much counseling he received. In other words, it was funny that he might do even more money laundering. I don’t think that is funny, and I hope I have a lot of company. D’Souza broke the law and had to pay for it.

I don’t know if Supervisor Jim DeMartini said, “He’s our kind of guy” before or after the laughter. Regardless, it doesn’t bode well for how little he thinks of the campaign laws that are already being trampled. Hopefully, AB700 will pass to help rein in such thinking.
