Denise Nordell: Help someone on the Road to Recovery

Having cancer is hard. Finding help shouldn’t be. One of the toughest challenges people face is getting to and from much-needed cancer treatments. They may be too sick to drive themselves, may not have a car or someone to drive them, or may not be able to afford gas or other transportation costs. The American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program, for which I volunteer, provides patients with free rides to treatment centers.

I can attest that by giving a little of my time I receive a real sense of fulfillment as well as inspiration from the brave people I have met. These individuals are in the fight of their lives, and the small kindness we offer as Road to Recovery volunteers means a lot to them. More volunteers are needed who can use their own vehicles to drive patients. Those interested can call 800 227-2345 to find out more.
