Lynn Weber: Events to help in fight to solve Alzheimer
I lost my Mom, Jean Sopher, five years ago to Alzheimer’s Disease. Her illness was a lengthy, difficult journey not only for her and her family, but for others whose life she touched. I want to take this opportunity to remind others facing Alzheimer’s that they are not alone.
We are fortunate to be building a budding relationship with the Alzheimer’s Association through volunteers here in our community to be certain residents are aware that this organization provides services to patients and caregivers to include 24-hour hotlines, advocacy, physician engagement, support groups, educational workshops and outreach to the under-served. Most importantly, the Alzheimer’s Association is the leader in funding research for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Recognize that many friends and neighbors are on the journey with someone facing Alzheimer’s. Support them by participating in two special events to raise awareness and funding to help battle this devastating disease – The Glen Campbell documentary, “I’ll Be Me,” will show at the State Theater, Saturday and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is Saturday, Sept. 12. I know I’ll be there.
