Beverley Herrero-Hart: Determining right from wrong
Re “Being gay isn’t unnatural” (Letters, July 20): Leviticus 18:22, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind. It is an abomination.” Leviticus 20:13, “Where the penalty for homosexuals is death.”
A previous letter writer noted: A thousand animal species have homosexual tendencies; since gay animals aren’t going to hell, then why are we?
Really? Because by committing homosexual acts we are behaving like animals in comparison to acting like humans.
Jesus didn’t say a thing about homosexuals in general. He did talk about sin. The sins we do every day and the multitude of excuses for why we do them. No sin is greater or lesser than anyone else’s. Humans have been given the intellect to know what is right and wrong. Animals have not.
They learn by trial and error of the dangers that surround them. Domestic animals learn from their owners what they are allowed to do. Yet they do as they please when their owners are gone. Farm animals, they can’t be tamed enough to keep them from homosexual sex with their own species.
So in comparison, dumb animals who commit homosexual acts won’t go to hell. Dumb people who commit sexual sins will go to hell. Regardless if they are straight or gay. Now that’s an equal opportunity guarantee.
