David P. Jack: Bee meant no disrespect as it focused on local news
Re “Where is The Bee’s news judgment?” (Letters, July 26): I do not work for The Bee. I say that as I am writing in response to the reader’s concern. We all have had to adjust to The Bee’s new format. I, too, started to notice a trend in the news placement of articles. I do not feel The Bee misplaced the “headline news.” Each topic mentioned by the writer is very important, yet I already knew all about them before the latest edition of The Bee arrived on my doorstep. Why, because of the Internet. I get news alerts on my cell phone from CNN, USA Today, AP – even The Bee. What I find on the front page of The Bee is typically what I haven’t read much about (unless they made it a Facebook post the evening before).
It seems The Bee is focusing front pages on the local issues of interest, issues we might not know as much about. It is a business model for the future to attract the new generation that is “very” plugged in. It is not a disrespect to the topics.
