Felton Daniels: Focus on finding more water, not bullet trains
Re “Ditch bullet train, go desalination” (Letters, July 2): I agree wholeheartedly with the writer. While a completed high speed train system connecting Los Angeles with San Francisco might reduce carbon consumption sometime in the very distant future, desalination plants built along our coast could provide much needed water in a planned sharing program as quickly as each plant was put on line. We need water now and will need it into the foreseeable future. It is time to change our focus before the whole state dries up.
