Joanne Miller: Rainbow belongs to God, not those who defy him

Re “Stomping on the Constitution,” (Letters, July 13): I would like to comment on the rainbow flag on the White House. This should have been a cringe-worthy moment for our great nation. Does our President not know what the rainbow symbolizes to Christians? God placed a rainbow in the sky as a covenant between himself and man to remind us that we are sinners who can be reconciled to God through His grace. In the Book of Revelation, the mighty angel who came down from heaven had a rainbow over his head (Rev. 10:1). Again, this symbolizes God’s grace, but we have to repent of our sin in order to receive His grace.

We, as a nation, had better be careful of using God’s symbols to sanctify sin. No wonder some of us are distressed that this nation, whose rights come from God, see His symbols as well as the Constitution, stomped on.
