Steven Applebaum: Feeling ‘The Bern’ as Sanders campaign ramps up
Who would have thought that in 2016 we may very well have a socialist candidate representing the Democrats against Donald Trump, the embodiment of a cliché American businessman.
Yes, Bernie Sanders is giving Clinton a run for her (or should I say, Wall Street’s) money by openly campaigning on socialist platforms that appeal to the people. It seems people heard enough about socialism through conservative attacks leveled at Obama and decided maybe it was just what they want.
People shouldn’t be surprised: Just as the Great Depression gave us President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his New Deal, the Great Recession will bring us Bernie Sanders and his Real Deal. It’s time to “Feel the Bern.”
