Pat Bicknell: Sounds like Patterson didn’t do its due diligence

Re “Grand Jury Report: Patterson draws fire over building” (Page A1, June 24): In reading the article by Rosalio Ahumada on the city of Patterson’s purchase of a 100-year-old building for $650,000 without a written contract or inspections – only later to find out that it would take over $2 million to make it useable – suggests that at some point somebody made representations about the building that were not true. In addition, the city administration appears to have spent $650,000, soon to be a total of $3 million, of the taxpayers’ money without initiating the due diligence an average person would in buying a used car.

I hope the county attorney will launch an investigation and file charges over this transaction.

Pat Bicknell, Oakdale
