Matt Rivera: Ads focus on a better ideal for men
I want to recognize and commend the companies that have placed recent ads on TV lately. Companies such as Extra gum, Toyota, Nike and Dove are making an effort to shine a different light on men. Their commercials show that men can be sensitive, caring, competent and even important. It is refreshing. This might be because Sunday is Father’s Day, but I am hoping this is the start of a new outlook on men. Other companies seem to thrive on portraying men as unable to get out of their own way; incompetent idiots at every turn. These companies I noted will have my business; the ones who insist on continuing to reduce men will not.
