Eric Thompson: Trump’s campaign proves how weak GOP field really is

Until Monday, I was 90 percent certain the Republicans had a 0 percent chance to win in 2016. Then Donald Trump threw his hat (or whatever the hell that thing on top of his head is) into the proverbial ring. Now I am 100 percent certain they have a 0 percent chance of winning.

Trump has been biding his time for the last 20 years waiting for the weakest, most pathetic group of opponents begging for the Republican nomination and finally he has found it. To top it off, the Donald has already proclaimed himself “the job building president.” What about all of the jobs lost each time he drove a company into bankruptcy?

For 30 years I have voted Republican mainly because they were the only viable party that could read the Constitution past the first amendment. Case in point, Eemocrats rule in California and we have some of the strictest gun-control in the U.S. So it looks like Hil-LIAR-y and Bubba Bill are moving back to the White House. There goes the neighborhood.

Eric Thompson, Oakdale
