Marie Federico: Enslen Park overrun by junkies, prostitutes, unleashed dogs
Re “Enslen Park ruined” (Letters, June 12): I am in total agreement. Among the beautiful vintage homes not too long ago, one could safely enjoy Enslen Park. Elderly gentleman could play bocce ball with friends, sons and grandsons. You could here the clanging and laughter from the horseshoe pits. Joggers and dog walkers got there exercise along the sidewalk. Kids played ball while parents watched from their front porches. If needed, you could use clean restrooms without fear.
That was then. Now the bocce court has become a ring for a junkie to perform karate moves, sometimes from dusk to dawn. The horseshoe pits are populated by hookers waiting for a customer or pimp to pull up along the sidewalk. Their unleashed dogs chase the joggers and dog walkers. The restrooms are not safe. Every once and a while a city cop will patrol the park with his window rolled down taking in the blight and then leaves without a care.
