David K. Ford: How much of Jenner’s change motivated by money?

Re “The politics of Caitlyn Jenner” (Opinions, June 8): Kathleen Parker’s opinion piece on Caitlyn Jenner is exactly what the problem is: The media cannot restrain itself from hyping a non-story. Regardless of Jenner’s “issues,” do we have to hear about it non-stop as if it’s actually something important? From Miley’s tongue to Kim’s caboose, it’s one depraved story after another. This is what the public wants? Or the media?

Apparently so, and with his/her history, Jenner is a person who knows how to cash in on publicity. If you believe certain media sources, “Caitlyn” is going to be $500 million richer when all this is said and done. All “this” boils down to is: “Will Caitlyn really get rid of little Bruce?”

It’s mind-boggling to me how sick our society has become. I’d have more respect if Jenner made the announcement and then said leave me to my privacy. But today’s celebs know no shame. Much of the media has used the word “courage” to describe Jenner’s metamorphosis. I say $500 mil will buy a lot of “courage.”
