Laurie Carley: Community helps third graders create the shade
On behalf of the third grade students at Rose Avenue Elementary School, I thank the community for their generous donations to our “Made in the Shade” fundraising project. We are excited to have met our fund-raising goal. We will have the shade structure installed and will soon be able to use it for assemblies and school activities.
Our students were thrilled to see that their letters to The Bee made a difference and generated donations. It was also fun to read the notes from community members who had connections to our school. Donations included letters from a former Rose Avenue principal, the family of the farm where Rose Avenue was built and former students and their families. In the end, we learned that kids really can make a difference.
Thank you, donors and The Bee for your support.
