Elaine Ixcot: Politicians shouldn’t get special drivers for when they drink

Re “Special drivers for senators who drink” (Page A6, May 30): I had to tie my hand behind my back and calm down a bit before I got to my keyboard on this one, I’m still very upset. We, the average citizens, are expected to use good judgment when we are drinking. But our senators, as it says in this article, have an “air of entitlement” as the “divide between legislators and ordinary citizens” (that’s us) is growing!

The way I read it, these drivers are retired state employees (drawing state pensions) and being paid $2,532 a month to what? Sleep from 11 p.m. to 6 or 7 a.m.., until a drunk senator needs a ride home? Probably in a limo. Very discouraged average California citizen.
