Paul Lucchesi: I’ve cut water use, but city doesn’t seem to be doing same

We are currently in Stage 2 of the water conservation plan. At our home, we have implemented the following steps to conserve water: removed approximately 60 percent of our grass, installed drought-resistant plants and drip lines, use a bucket in our shower to reclaim cold water before it heats up, use reclaimed water for flower pots. Also, three planters in our backyard will remain without flowers this season and a pool cover reduces evaporation. These small actions seem to be prudent as we head into the long hot valley summer.

On my daily travels around Village One, I see vast parkways of green grass. These parkways line Floyd and Kodiak, just to mention two. I am asking The Bee’s investigative reporters to check into this and to report back whose domain this falls under and what is their watering schedule. If they are allowed to water only two days a week, I would like to know how they do it so that I may keep my small patch of lawn as green as theirs.
