Robbie Robinson: Why do classes resume in August?
Summer is almost here, however it will be cut short because our local school districts will start school at the beginning of August. Why?
The only reason I’ve heard is that high school teachers want their semester to end before winter break. Is that really a reason to ruin everybody’s summer? Some other districts still start at the end of August. In one of the hottest places, our valley, our school district wants to run air conditioners in the hottest month, August. That money could be better used elsewhere. The district owes us taxpayers an explanation for this lousy idea.
