Terrina Melo: Why won’t supervisors approve clean energy programs?
I would like to know why the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors has not approved the PACE (property assessed clean energy) program for Stanislaus County unincorporated areas? The cities of Hughson, Modesto, Newman, Oakdale, Riverbank, Turlock, Waterford and Ceres are involved in the PACE Program. There are residences, dairies, ranches and nurseries that need to use this program. There is no additional cost to the county. The monies are collected through the property taxes and the pay-back periods are 5, 10, 15 and 20 years. Lenders trying to get approved in Stanislaus County are HERO and YGrene.
Energy Saving Pros and Sun Electric have contacted the board members. According to the board minutes, at the March 17 meeting, county CEO Stan Risen said he had looked into the Home Energy Renovation Opportunity program and was not inclined to implement it at this time.
