Stan Black: Would a higher sales tax finally open new walking path?

Re “Modesto pitches for tax increase” (Page B1, May 10): After reading that our city fathers would like to raise the sales tax so they might have a bit more money to make Modesto a better place to live, I was wondering if it might be used to extend the walking and bike path that has been completed for months but that nobody can use. Or to hire a consulting firm to do a study on how they might mess up another street. I have to laugh each time I pass the fenced walking paths. What a farce.
