Carlena Rowell: Stroke victim thankful for EMTs and Doctors

On May 4, at 11 a.m., I arrived at Doctors Medical Center, brought by EMTs. I had ischemic stroke with no speech or movement on my right side. At 12:52 p.m. my husband gave the attending physician permission to give me TPA (tissue plasminogen activator). About one hour later I was able to move my right side and speak coherently to the medical staff.

An absolute miracle and I give God all the praise, but to the EMTs, I say: “Thank you, thank you.” And to the doctor and nurses in the ER and Stroke Center who helped return me whole to my family and friends: You will always be my heroes and I will keep you in my prayers.

Carlena Rowell, Modesto
