Dave Thomas: Give ‘Taxinator’ Marsh a quick poll on his new plan

Dale Earnhardt Sr. was known as “The Intimidator.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger was known as “The Terminator.”

I now deem Mayor Garrad Marsh “The Taxinator.”

It seems The Taxinator wants another bite of the apple. He wants to put yet another sales tax increase on the ballot and says he wants “public support” to justify another attempt to victimize Modesto taxpayers. I guess The Taxinator fails to remember that every recent sales tax measures failed to pass. Measure K failed. Measure S failed. Measure X failed. I estimate that the government’s involvement in trying to pass K, S and X resulted in spending $400,000 to convince itizens to voluntarily open their wallets so bureaucrats could enrich themselves.

If past performance is an indicator of future results, another sales tax increase proposal will go down in flames.

What is The Taxinator thinking? Is He so disengaged from his neighbors that he believes they should give Him even more money?

If The Taxinator wants to put another general fund tax on the ballot, I suggest you let him know if you will vote “yes” or not. E-mail The Taxinator and tell. Similarly, if you would vote “no” on an unspecified sales tax increase, tell him that, too.

If you copy me with an email to myidea@fire2wire.com I will tally and publish the score. Let’s see if Modestans really want to give the bureaucrats more money.

Dave Thomas, Modesto
