Joan Krajnovich: Why do TV stations force-feed us non-news?

Overblown news reports are crammed down our throats. Channel 3 (KCRA) especially is over-the-top in promoting “breaking news!” Case in point was the shooting of April 27. For 5 1/2 hours, we were “treated” to pictures of cars lined up on empty streets. Replays of “talking heads” going on ad-infinitum, endlessly repeating the same things.

Eventually channels 10 (KXTV) and 13 (KOVR) returned to regular programming, but not KCRA. At 5 p.m. same rehash, then again at 6 p.m. At this point, who needed to see all this again? The “caring emotion” had long disappeared, totally blunted.

We missed regular programming so some idiot could indulge in his “15 minutes of fame.” How self-satisfied he must be to get all the attention we provided. That’s how long this news story should have lasted. Use type across bottom of screen to update events. Break-in for something special.

We should bombard stations with letters/emails etc. to get this practice stopped! It’s disgusting to spend a whole day on force-fed crap.

P.S. I watched a movie.
