Vicki Ellis: Heald provided both an education and an opportunity

I was a graduate of Oakland’s Heald Business College in the mid-1960s. At that time, it was a stellar example of higher education for people who were serious about getting their education under their belt and entering the business world. True, in today’s terms, the courses offered were antiquated; but students had a firm exposure to accounting, law, ethical business practices and secretarial (i.e., shorthand and typing) fields. In my job experience, a degree from Heald Business College always lead to an immediate job offering.
