John Nixon: Build maintenance cost into budget for new track
Re “School to get $1.8 million track” (Page A1, May 1): As a adult involved with youth athletics in the Central Valley I am excited that Riverbank is installing a new track surface. The concern that I have is the majority of the all-weather facilities (tracks, football fields) that have been installed in the area seem to manage to fund the purchase but there is no funding or planning for the maintenance of the facilities after the purchase. Examples: Downey High School football field and the Patterson High School track and football field.
Lets ensure that our investment is being planned for and taken care of.
