Cynthia Guzman: Stepping up for Alzheimer’s research
I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease three years ago. I have read about others diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia and we all have one common denominator – the Alzheimer’s Association. With the acceptance of our diagnosis and then allowing the association to be a part of our lives, we have found a better quality of life because we are able to get the support we need.
I am happy that I have been able to be the voice for those that can’t speak on their own behalf – to urge our legislators for increased research funding, to promote clinical trials through the Alzheimer’s Association’s TrialMatch program and to encourage families to seek support and education. Families should know that you don’t have to do this alone – the Alzheimer’s Association is here to help.
Join me on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Modesto Walk to End Alzheimer’s to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. For more to register, go to act.alz.org/modesto2015 or call (800) 272-3900.
