Krista Joy Serpa: CSUS’s King Lear breathtaking work of art

I cannot rave enough about “King Lear” at Stanislaus State. It is so exceptional – flawlessly cast, deftly and breathtakingly executed, stunning to look at. The audience of Shakespeare lovers and newbies alike laughed, gasped and wept on opening night. It was extraordinary to behold. If you’ve never seen Lear, you must go. If you think you hate Lear, you must go. My favorite Shakespeare Under The Stars by a huge margin –which is giant praise, as I’ve loved all of them I’ve seen!

I feel like it’s a huge gift that my first viewing of Lear was such a magnificent one – and it is crazy that this is free to the public. As an actor, I was inspired; as an audience member, I was delighted. Congratulations and thank you to cast, crew and creative team for a really incredible piece of art.

Krista Joy Serpa, Ripon

Editor’s note: King Lear will be performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. at the CSU Stanislaus Amphitheater.
