Ryon Paton: Trinitas not drilling wells or dumping water
Trinitas Farming appreciates the sensitivities associated with water in this fourth year of California drought. We value each drop, whether it comes from our surface supply via the Oakdale Irrigation District or our private wells. Our irrigation practices are conservative. We precisely apply only the amount each tree needs in order to eliminate runoff and waste.
We recognize the concerns expressed by some residents east of Oakdale (“Almond joy? Not out on Horseshoe Road,” April 26) regarding groundwater and agricultural wells. Two photos accompanying the story show a tower for a well being drilled for a nearby farmer with an 800-acre orchard. This well does not belong to Trinitas, nor do we have any plans to drill.
Also, a recent letter to The Bee (“Why was that water being dumped in a ditch,” April 14) mistakenly assumed water being put into a ditch from a truck came from Trinitas. It did not.
We welcome a chance to talk with others who share our commitment to responsible water use and conservation during the drought and beyond.
