David Schortner: You can’t compare today’s immigrants to those of 1776

Re “Soldiers of revolution didn’t wait for papers” (Opinions, April 25): This is the dumbest “our view” yet. For the writer(s) to compare 21st century America, which is supposed to be a nation of laws, to pre-nation events that took place in the 18th century, defines the meaning of comparing “apples to oranges.”

Articles like this are the reason “journalists credibility” is lower than a politician’s, if that’s possible. This is a big part of the “dumbing down” of the soon to be “Late Great USA”.
