Teri Hines: Democrats shouldn’t try to force Eggman on us; we have Cox

Our Congressional District, CA 10 is a hot race in politics this election season. Everyone wants input, even if they do not live here or understand the great amount of work that has been happening on the ground. The fact that the DCCC encouraged and will likely endorse Michael Eggman, a man who has lost two bids for the seat and has sat back the past six months while other candidates participated in debates and campaigning is infuriating.

Local groups from Patterson, Modesto, Turlock and Tracy have endorsed TJ Cox for Congress; do the Washington elites expect the activists who have been knocking on doors and protesting Jeff Denham to shift all of their support to Eggman? Not likely.

Outsiders have always tried to tell us what we should believe and who we should vote for. I for one am sick and tired of it! There is a reason that so many people are angry with the “Democratic” establishment. If we lose what should be a flip-able district in November, it will be the fault of national Democrats who should be using their time and resources in places across the country that are actually asking for help.

Teri Hines, Denair
