Beverly Schlegel: This month’s pruning will create an abundance of blooms

Thank you’s to the Modesto Garden Club members and friends who volunteered Jan. 15 to prune the roses in the Memorial Rose Garden in Roosevelt Park. This huge task took the group a little over 2 hours; it is a once-a-year project. When the Memorial Rose Garden begins to bloom in April, it is a blaze of beautiful red and white blooms lasting until late fall. See it this year on West Orangeburg next to the Virginia Corridor Trailway.

Beverly Schlegel, Modesto Rose Garden committee chair, Modesto Garden Club
