Terri Shaver: Trying clarify just when watering can be done
Happy to comply with watering on only two days per week, but I would request clarification on two questions:
1) Are there restrictions or guidelines for lengths of time we can water, to go with fewer days? The purpose is defeated if people simply water longer to make up for less often.
2) To verify, is it correct to understand that weekend watering is 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. Saturday morning for even-numbered homes, and Sunday morning for odd-numbered homes?
Thank you for promoting water-conservation efforts. Perhaps a new slogan could be “Sweep, don’t spray, your sidewalks and driveway!”
Terri Shaver, Turlock
Editor’s note: Modesto’s watering restrictions are available at www.modestogov.com. They include: No watering from noon to 7 p.m. any day; odd-numbered homes water Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; even-numbered homes Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; no car washing without a shut-off nozzle.
