Rae Waltman: Brown’s bullet train endangers entire state
Re “Amid drought, desalination becomes a welcome reality” (Opinions, October 19, 2014): An excellent editorial written by Mariel Garza appeared in The Modesto Bee. The only problem is that the only subject that seems to be of primary interest to Jerry Brown is the stupid bullet train! Water storage is discussed intermittently, however, I thought one needed water to be able to “store” water! Silly me!
So, what happened to the desalination concept? Oh right! Gov. Jerry Brown wants the bullet train to be his legacy. Maybe I just don’t get the connection. Is the bullet train going to grow crops, feed animals, maintain the entire economy that provides food and jobs to this state’s residents? The reality is that Jerry’s legacy will be the total and complete bankruptcy of the whole state of California, which I doubt seriously will affect his personal income!
