Marcus Jacques: Shortage of nurses? Not in California

Re “Obama care becomes rationed care” (Letters, April 20): This writer opens the letter with a statement that is so wrong that the rest of his letter lost merit. There is no, let me repeat, NO nursing shortage in the Central Valley. There are many hospitals here that will not even hire full-time RNs any longer. Most will not even hire new graduates. Then, when they do, many need to find second jobs just to make up hours. There is a gluttony of nurses around the Modesto area. Stop listening to faux news and look at the facts in your community. There may be a shortage of nurses overall in the country, but there is certainly no shortage in California. This is coming from a nurse married to a nurse.
