Eileen Wyatt Stokman: County’s leaders should settle Engert case
Re “Deputies botched eviction brief says” (Page A1, April 15): The leaders of Stanislaus County have blood on their hands. I am appalled and ashamed at their stance in the tragic death of an innocent contractor, Glendon Engert. He was the locksmith sent to do a Marine’s job. He was taken down without any warning. There were red flags all over that residence.
Now, county leaders are listening to their attorneys rather than relying on integrity. Elections are looming. We need leaders who will follow their own motto to “serve people with respect, compassion and understanding.”
