Jane Steckling: You can even laugh at the drought, if you try

Re the “Bottled up frustrations” note in “Big-screen TVs, aerial drones in Old West” (Page B1) and “Your Pet: Is city’s water safe for pets?” (Page D-1): In Jeff Jardine’s column we read of Modesto being the source of bottled water destined for Las Vegas and for labeling in Texas en route to other parts of our nation. While on the Pets page we read of questions and concern from a dog owner over potential problems from giving her dog Modesto tap water.

With tongue-in-cheek perhaps, the vet should have responded that the pet owner only seek out the very best bottled water by looking for this wording on the label: “Source: Modesto Municipal Water Supply/Modesto, CA.”

I enjoyed this little bit of water humor in a season of humorless drought.

Jane Steckling, Gustine
