Charlie Lockett: Cancer survivors benefited from incredible display of art

The 17th was the last day of a very fine art show at Mistlin Gallery in Modesto. Those of you who missed it, missed viewing works of art that would be welcomed in any gallery in America.

These works were created by amateurs, many painting for the first time. This program for Cancer Survivors and Caregivers sponsored by Memorial Medical Center includes many opportunities for those who have lived with the devastation of having cancer.

There was photography with Bill Wood, where a person learns the fun of using a camera. The writing class with Lin Sexton brings out that hidden author in all of us and helps the release of emotions we thought buried long ago.

Then there is the art program led by Galin Martin who is one of those special people who can lead you to find that creativity you never dreamed was in you.

So for those who missed out, and those of you who didn’t, you can still help cancer survivors and caregivers by picking up our Anthology Book at Memorial and making a donation while enjoying a very fine book that includes writings, paintings and photography.
