Neil Hudson: Denham’s support for GOP tax bill betrays his district

Your vote for the tax bill is a betrayal of the people of your district. Eighty-percent of the tax cuts go to the wealthy donors of your re-election campaign and GOP coffers. The elimination of the estate tax applies mostly to the billionaire class who will maintain dynastic control of our nation. Cutting the estate tax not only has no benefit in CD-10, but adds to the deficit (I thought the GOP hated deficits).

As for the deficits, Republicans are sticking it to Californians by getting rid of the deductions for state income tax and property taxes, effectively raising taxes on the middle class. Your support of the tax bill penalizes college students who receive grants; those grants are now treated as income. College students need our support, not added taxation.

The dropping of medical deductions will negatively affect 9 million Americans who have drained their savings and/or retirement for critical surgery. The middle class will see income tax increase by 2020. What you have done is lie to your constituents to give tax cuts to your rich friends.

You have a phony economic ideology that will bilk this country and further destabilize the lower and middle classes.
