Doug Estes: Bill to ban guns carried by retired officers at schools is wrong

It seems strange that two California state senators, Hannah-Beth Jackson (D) and Lois Wolk (D), would introduce a bill to prohibit an armed retired police officer from protecting our children and grandchildren from a criminal intruder at a school. Senate Bill 707 will ban retired police officers from carrying a weapon on or near school grounds. If something bad happens at a school, I would welcome a retired police officer, with a weapon, to intervene.

This bill puts our children and grandchildren at risk. There are good people with guns and bad people with guns, let’s not confuse them. If you agree, please contact the above and your own representatives and ask them to vote no on SB 707.
