Lloyd Russell: Republicans offer same phony crap in new wrapper
Another day, another massacre. This time a church became an abattoir. Another day given to platitudes, and “thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.”
Another day when Republicans in Congress wring their hands but avoid mentioning the “elephant in the room.” (Though, they still helped sweep the elephant’s dung under the same stinking carpet they swept it under yesterday, and will sweep it under again tomorrow.)
Another day of the same old crap in the same old wrapper. All must bend to the NRA.
Another day of phony outrage, stupid excuses, and ridiculous explanations: “It’s God’s will” ... “It’s pure evil” ... “The devil made you/me/him do it.” ... “It’s the Mexicans” ... “It’s Muslims...” It’s anything and everything but that old elephant strapped with the AR or AK.
Today the elephant went to church. Yesterday he attended a concert. The day before that he visited a first-grade classroom. Tomorrow? Tomorrow old Jumbo might be riding with the guy you just cut off in traffic or drinking with the guy you just fired. He might be telling some crazy dude he needs to drop the hammer on someone – anyone at all.
