Michael Lear: Denham all about speeches; protecting veterans not so much
Congressman Jeff Denham is keeping a low profile, as usual for Valley Republicans, on the important issues of the day, like: health care, tax giveaways to people like, well, him, and generally whether he wants to stand behind the eminently impeachable President Twittler.
Denham clearly wants to be seen as a friend to the veterans, he rarely misses a photo opportunity when a veteran receives a deserved honor. The congressman served several terms as a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee and continues to meet with the Veterans Jobs Caucus.
Now I see the Veterans Affairs Committee has neglected to do anything about predatory lending practices specifically targeting veterans. The committee has known about this for over a year. Does the congressman want to take a position on this? I am not a veteran, but if I was I am pretty sure this is the kind of hypocrisy that would be more important than medals and speeches, to me anyway.
