Norman Milsner: Teen driver should not have had teen passengers

Re “Man killed, 4 teens hurt in car crash” (Page B3, April 11): Where were the parents of the 16-year-old who was driving? Who would turn the keys over to a 16-year-old to drive other students? According to DMV rules, a minor may not transport passengers under 20 years of age unless accompanied by a licensed parent or guardian, a licensed driver 25 years age or older (page 11 of the drivers handbook).

I think the parents are as much at fault as the driver.

The article did not mentioned if the driver was texting or using the phone, though she could have been distracted by the other passengers. Anyone living in Milton should be aware of the dangers of that intersection.

Norman Milsner, Camp Connell
