Brooks Judd: A few yokels were ruining show at Gallo
On April 9, my wife and I attended an energetic performance by the legendary Buddy Guy. The ageless performer did two solid, blues-filled hours. What an electric, wonderful, fantastic show! Thank you Lynn Dickerson and the Gallo for giving us the opportunity to see such marvelous entertainment. The audience was vocal, exuberant and boisterous in a good way. But why do some audience members feel it is their right to take cellphone pictures when they have specifically been asked not to? The man next to us spent the entire evening taking snapshots. Many in the audience were doing the same thing. Dickerson asked the audience not use cellphones. Her request fell on deaf ears.
I was embarrassed when Buddy twice asked an audience member to “Shut the *&^* up!”
What is it with people who feel they do not have to follow the rules of common decency? These same loudmouths aren’t happy unless they are bellowing out insipid oaths throughout the show. Most of the audience made Buddy feel welcome and we were glad to be part of that group. But a few yokels need to put away their cellphones and put a lid on their bellowing.
