John Vonhof: How are farmers conserving water?
Re “Farmers launch PR push to combat water bashing” (Page A3, April 10): The article was informative and helpful to understand their position. What has not been asked and answered is how farmers water their orchards, vines and plants. Let’s use orchards as an example. I see flooded orchards, orchards with sprinklers and orchards with drip lines. The big question: Which is the most effective way to manage water allocations and by what percentages? Have farmers changed their watering to the most effective methods? If not, why not? I would love to see an article about the watering methods used by farmers. I value what farmers do, but when non-farmers are asked to conserve we need to know that farmers are using common sense in serving water, too.
